In 2011 a group of exceptional people, with the deep desire to do something meaningful for our country, got together and founded 1965Ride. Their desire was to make a real difference, and to give back purposefully. They wanted to afford the best educational opportunities to those who had no access to it.
As we know, education has not been afforded to all South Africans equally, and to address our inequalities it is here at grass-roots, where one can impact on real lives, and create whole family ripple effect upliftment. The 1965Ride has since 2011, successfully afforded over 70 bursar’s the opportunity of quality education. These bursar’s have in turn, gone on to purposeful careers, and are now contributing to society in a meaningful manner, paying it forward.
Founding member Tony Frost and mentor has always said to me, “what is your purpose, what is your legacy? What do you want to leave behind?”
I believe that this verse may well be my mission statement.
If you join me in my dream of making a difference, together maybe we can start a movement – a movement toward a world of intentional living where people think of others before themselves, where adding value to others is a priority, where financial gain is second to future potential and where people’s self-worth is strengthened by acts of significance every day. If we live a life that truly matters, we can change the world. (John C. Maxwell)
In contemplation as we look back on the past year, and move forward with hope, and expectation, I urge you to think deeply about what it is you stand for! What is the legacy you want to leave behind?
Why not support the 1965Ride?
Together and collectively we can and will make a difference!
