This was certainly a great experience. I still look at the photos and videos. Of course the main reason was to raise money for a fantastic cause but what was also so wonderful was the pure cycling that we did. There were so many firsts for me during those 8-9 days. First time to ride 147 km in one day, first time to ride through that part of the country, first time to ride for 8 consecutive days covering the distance that we did. Great cycling and great company made the experience for me.
The last day into Queenstown felt like we were riding into Paris on the last day of the Tour de France. The difference was our welcome was better especially when we cycled past the school outside the town with the pupils lined up along the fence waving flags and cheering us on as we cycled past. Not a dry eye in the ‘parlotone’ at that point!
