Day 5 – 15th April 2018

Ride 2018 Blog 5 Day 5

Yesterday ended in a comical note around the dinner table. It started with Ian’s rendition and animation of “Die Bui” which had everyone in stitches. To add further insult to injury there was an in depth discussion about the usage of chamois (chammy) cream. It has come to our attention that females benefit greatly from the use of chamois cream and it has now been termed ‘fanny cream’.

Before we set off this morning, Tony’s ox-wagon bike decided to retire with a broken spoke due to Tony’s out-“spoken” personality.

After summiting the gruesome ‘hill’ Ian decided to take the turn to Lesotho!!!

Finally we were on the right track.

However, the summiting of this HILL proved little victory as Andile’s bike had a puncture, making it puncture number 4 on this trip.

Another ‘tirade’ from the captain Tony resulted in an apology makes this a total of ONE appology so far.

A strange “Hobhouse” big fluns it’s way down Maritha’s shirt which resulted in an unplanned strip. Mark the Medic came to the rescue once again.

All in all it was a good day for cycling with wonderful views, incredible weather and MUCH less traffic.

We arrived safely in Wepener at 15:00 and instead of a traffic cop welcoming, we were welcomed by a dog brigade at the Lord Frazer guest house. Our bikes are fresh and ready after a good wash for the 70km ride tomorrow.
