85 days and counting down…

Newsletter no.  37

Hard to believe, but there are only 85 days before we set off on our journey to Queenstown.

There is no doubt that the organisational pace is picking up fast.

Leon Jacobs has reconnoitred the Cape Town to Queenstwon route; Rodger Webb is beavering away on the PE contingent; and Marlene Stals is revving up the riders in the East London area. We had a 1965Ride Steering Committee meeting yesterday and it is very much all systems go.

The first sponsorship monies are starting to be deposited. Any size contribution is welcome. We aim to achieve a Tipping Point and hopefully it will happen this year. Remember that every donation in South Africa and any money that comes from the United States qualifies for Tax Deductions in terms of the relevant tax regimes. The important info is on the sponsorship and registration forms (available on the relevant pages on this site). Anyone wanting the details for American donations, email ridethe1965ride@gmail.com and we will send this to you.

Routes are being finalised. Jen and I are doing a final route journey and accommodation recce for the JHB Group this coming weekend so by the end of the month most of the organisational stuff will be reasonably under control. Please send any queries or suggestions to us, of any sort. We are still looking for a major corporate sponsor who, for the right kind of money, could have naming rights. This sponsorship could also be linked to the annual Queen’s College Golf Day so put your thinking caps on!

The photo attached is of the Hans and Marijke Pillen our wonderful benefactors from Holland who visited South Africa recently. The first half of their 2012 money has already arrived in the Queen’s Trust account. So a very big thank you to them for getting us off to such a good start!
Come and ride with us!
Take care
Tony
